"Our Greatest Mistake: we cannot breathe!" - Yesudian & Haich's book Yoga and Health

Without breathing there is no life on earth. Most people believe they can breathe not realising that 90% of the population doesn’t use the full capacity of their lungs!

With various health conditions and disease on the rise, there is no better time to learn how to use the breath to enhance the immune system and create different effects in the body. Covid has brought with it a rise of anxiety, depression, loss of direction and health fears for many people. It has impacted businesses, jobs and our "normal" but it has also brought us time to slow down and check-in with what's really important. Health and community are top priorities at a time like this. This workshop has been designed to bring together a community of like-minded souls to learn various breathing techniques to enhance the immune system, boost vitality and soothe anxiety.

The breath is our most powerful tool when it comes to our health. Pranayama Yoga is an aspect that doesn't get taught much in western cultures. There is a whole system that comes from ancient teachers to develop peak performance health at the physical level, as well as the mental and spiritual level by using the breath alone.

Every one of the 50 trillion cells making up our bodies, in every organ and gland, requires oxygen on a minute by minute basis in order to keep their functions happening at peak performance. Slow down the supply and the functions also slow down and this is when illness can seep in. This is the reason traditional yoga focuses so much on the breath.

In this workshop you will learn:

- The physiology of breathing

- How the lungs work

- The heart & lung connection

- Cardiovascular health and its importance

- How to use all 3 parts of your lungs efficiently

- All about our most underrated organ: The Thymus Gland

- How to regulate the nervous system with the breath creating balance and harmony

- Techniques to boost vitality and strengthen your immune system

- Calming techniques to help with sleep and anxiety

You will leave with your own tool bank of techniques to use anytime to support your health. The beautiful thing about this is that you leave with the power in your hands.

This workshop will be facilitated by Natasha Godetz, a yoga teacher and health educator who began her holistic health journey 8 years ago. Using natural healing modalities to overcome multiple autoimmune conditions in her own body she became passionate about sharing these tools with others to empower their health. With over 1000 hours of registered training hours, her mission is to connect, inspire and hold space for those on their healing journey. Before landing back in NZ in March 2020, she spent 2 years in Thailand mentoring with one of her teachers; David Goulet working at his healing centre helping people overcome illness naturally through yoga, breathwork, plant medicine and mindset.
