Description

Many people have a fear of inversions, which is totally understandable. These types of poses need to be learnt safely and properly. Overcoming any sort of fear is empowering which is why learning poses such as handstand, can build confidence and help us overcome fears & inhibitions both on and off the mat.


Yoga Inversions are said to:

  • build confidence

  • improve blood circulation

  • increase immunity (due to assisting lymphatic circulation)

  • increase energy (for the heating poses)

  • increase relaxation (for the cooling poses)

  • increase core strength

  • plus they're really fun!


In this 2.5 hour workshop with Pia White you'll learn (or blow the cobwebs off):

  • handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)

  • headstand (Salamba Sirsasana)

  • shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana)


Just as we first learned to walk first by building strength, then crawling, standing (& falling!) we will explore various drills and preparation poses to build our way upside down.

We will cover the foundations of each pose, go over the benefits and help you practice SAFELY so you can incorporate these asana at home.

The workshop will start with a general Vinyasa Flow warm up, then we'll disect each pose individually and start to attempt each pose - finding joy in going upside down (& falling back down again)!

Expect an invigorating session, a bit of sweat, and lots of laughs! Leave the workshop feeling confident, inspired, and with a little fire in your belly.

Enjoy the process, lose the fear and have fun getting upside down!

IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR ME?

This workshop is not suitable for absolute beginners but you don't have to be super advanced either! A basic knowledge of yoga is fine (intermediate to advanced). If you can hold a plank and a downward dog, you'll be fine.

All postures will be performed in a safe environment. However, if you have high blood pressure, history of stroke or heart disease, diabetes, are pregnant, have glaucoma or other eye disorders, spinal problems, chronic neck pain, excess weight, dizziness, head injuries, inner ear problems, hiatus hernias and osteoporosis or recovering from recent childbirth, it is not recommened you attend this workshop. If you have any concerns, please contact Pia and consult your Doctor before booking.
