YIN+SONIC: Spring Mix with DEB SHAW and KEITH KEMPIS - SATURDAY
Event Information
Description
Join BIJA Yoga Teacher Deb Shaw for a nourishing and rejuvenating Spring YIN Yoga Rest-shop.
Spring is associated with the element of wood. It’s a time for rebirth, new growth and renewal. Just as we might “spring clean” our external environments, Traditional Chinese Medicine encourages us to take this time of year to also “spring clean” our internal environment. When the wood element is out of balance we can feel more anger, frustration and irritability. When it’s in harmony, compassion, kindness and acceptance are easier to access.
This workshop will support us to tap into our deepest core and encourage us to unfurl after the heavy winter months. We’ll take steps to build a strong foundation to prepare us to venture outside more, connect with nature, plant seeds, notice new life all around, take action and celebrate light as the days lengthen and the darkness of the previous season begins to recede.
Following on from the success of our last YIN+SONIC workshop this 1 hour 45 minute YIN practice will focus on the Liver and Gallbladder organ-meridian pair, supporting the body’s natural digestive and detoxification functions. The practice will also encourage us to embrace the opportunity to shed layers that don’t serve us anymore and to make a conscious choice to begin anew.
In keeping with our tiny tradition of sharing Nada Yoga – the yoga of sound vibration – participants will be treated to the beautiful sounds of BIJA Director Keith Kempis providing the soundtrack for the class (including live piano!).
All welcome! As YIN Yoga is a cool practice we suggest you dress warmly.

MORE ABOUT YIN YOGA
YIN Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that uses seated and supine asana (postures) held for longer periods of time, and often supported by props. The longer holds serve to strengthen the fascia, ligaments and tendons (connective tissue) of the body. It is a non-depleting practice that can be very reflective and relaxing, providing a nourishing and restful container from which to begin developing a meditation practice. YIN is a perfect antidote for modern day busy-ness!
