Start your 2021 on the right foot with this 2 hour Yin workshop designed for those who are Yin Lovers & those completely new to the practice but wanting to give it a try.
Yin is a perfect balance for those who enjoy more Yang like physical activity like boxing & martial arts. Yin focuses on the connective tissue, fascia & joints & bones. In Yin we 'switch off' our muscles & our brains for a more inward reflection & healing approach. It is said that Yin brings fluid & blood back into places in our body that need it & allows for freer movement. By gently compressing & stretching the meridians, muscles, ligaments & body structure we control & 'wake up' our consciousness to these areas & gain more body & self awareness.
Poses are typically held for extended periods of time & we are encouraged to find stillness in our bodies & in our minds, Yin has strong links with traditional Chinese Medicine & works with meridian energy pathways & prana to kick start energy flow throughout the body & the main organs.
Yin is a slower, quieter, inward & holistic style of Yoga. Our lives are often times very Yang. Yang is the active, masculine, daytime, hot, movement go-go-go we have in our everyday lives, Yang needs a subtle, cool, reflective, darker balance so we can really benefit from balance.
This workshop includes grounding, mindfulness, pranayama (breath control) and meditation during Savasana along with plenty of juicy Yin stretching.
What to bring:
- Yoga Mat
- Water bottle
- Small pillow & bolster if you have one
- A towel or blanket
- Eye pillow for meditation if you have one
