Description

YARNING UP ON TRAUMA - 3 day workshop

Tues 18th Feb, Wed 19th Feb & Thursday 20th Feb 2020

- 9.15am registration for a 9.30 start

Provided by BADAC for the Central Highlands Family Services Alliance.

VACCA is working within the sector, with schools and within communities to provide an intensive three day training program - Yarning up on Trauma.

Within this program, participants discuss the nature and effects of trauma including physical, social, emotional and spiritual impacts. There is a focus upon understanding trauma in the context of Aboriginal history: through colonisation, stolen generations, disadvantage and institutionalised racism. Across the four days map this history to place the trauma of Aboriginal people today within that context.

The three day program explores what attachment means for Aboriginal families and identifies ways in which trauma affects health, well-being and relationships with others. Finally, participants identify strategies and supports that assist in healing and working with clients who are living with and experiencing trauma.

Yarning up on Trauma focuses on the needs of Aboriginal children today, in the context of the history of trauma.

Morning tea and lunch provided.

Please advise of any dietary requirements.
