Support Act proudly presents Yarning Strong - On My Mind First Nations Series - Keeping Mob Mentality Healthy

About this event

On Friday 1 October, Support Act is running the next instalment of its free, On My Mind First Nations Series 'Yarning Strong: Keeping Mob Mentally Healthy' with Hosts Mitch Tambo and Cerisa Grant joining guests Jimmy Kyle, Deborah Cheetham AO and Jedison.

This discussion will touch on mental health and the issues in the First Nations community around suicide and self-harm, topics not often talked about and too hard for many to open up about.

We will speak about the effects of intergenerational trauma and how this plays a huge role, touch on depression in First Nations people and how it can lead to self-harm and suicide, and the stats on First Nations suicide.

We will also be giving tips on how to support people culturally going through a tough time and what supports are out there for people who are suicidal.

Organiser Support Act

Organiser of Yarning Strong - Keeping Mob Mentally Healthy

Support Act is a unique charity helping Australian artists and music workers who are facing hardship due to illness, a mental health problem, injury or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work in music.

We help by providing different kinds of support, which include financial relief, advice and practical assistance. We also contribute to funeral costs.

We help artists and music workers of all kinds, across Australia. Our services are provided in confidence, with sympathy and no judgement.
