Description

YACWA would like to invite you to our 2019 State of the Youth Sector Forum, which will be held on the 1st of August from 12pm-5pm at North Metropolitan TAFE, Leederville.

This Forum is an opportunity for the youth sector to identify the key challenges and future directions for the sector as well as highlight and discuss policy and programs that effect young people.

The Minister for Youth, the Hon Peter Tinley MLA, will open the Forum and a report on its findings will be delivered to Ministers across State Government. We will also have Michelle Scott and Helen Creed from the Supporting Communities Forum attending who will give a brief overview of the Forum and an outline of its work to date.

2019 has and will see a number of critical changes being made to the systems that govern our sector. Strategies and initiatives such as the State Homelessness Strategy, Target 120, State Disability Plan, At Risk Youth Action Plan, Homestretch trial, LGBTIQA+ Health Strategy and the WA Youth Strategy, among many others will have a significant impact on service provision to young people in Western Australia. As such we would like to use this opportunity to help the sector navigate these reforms and determine our collective goals for the future.

This annual gathering is a critical opportunity to collect the real story of the sector, understand how you are feeling, and help direct YACWA’s advocacy over the next 12 months.

Discussions on the day will also directly influence YACWA's 2020/21 Pre-Budget Submission.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Stefaan Bruce-Truglio, YACWA Policy & Advocacy Officer, at stefaan@yacwa.org.au.

Please RSVP by COB on the 25th of July.
