Y12 Physics: Mastering Electromagnetism [Module 6]
Event Information
Description
Struggled with getting your head around Electromagnetism in the Year 12 Physics course?
In this HSC Mastery Holiday Workshop, we're going to help you master Electromagnetism in the new HSC Syllabus Module 6 for Physics!
In this 3 workshop during the school holidays on Monday 15th April from 9:30am-12:30pm, our Head of Science, Adrian will help you:
- Master electrostatics, field response of charges and concepts of voltage
- Develop a strong understanding of magnetism, including field response of moving charges, lines of current
- Get confident with DC motors including torque, and AC/DC generators
- Learn about the functions and components of DC motors
- Build your foundation in Faraday’s and Lenz’s Laws and flux-change
- Learn how to apply all of this to HSC-style questions!
Why is it important to master this now?
The next topic (in Module 7 - the nature of light) is literally called “Electromagnetic Spectrum” so you’re hitting the ground running in the next topic if you’ve cleaned up all your questions from electromagnetism!
Additionally, the next time you'll also need to apply Electromagnetism will be in your Trials when you'll need to review EVERYTHING. So it's a good idea to knock these questions over where they stand now, rather than try to remember what the sticking points were before the HSC Trial!
The Key Outcomes
- Be able to confidently answer exam-style questions relating to the motor effect, motion of charges in magnetic fields and flux-change/induction (Faraday/Lenz’s Laws).
- Wrap-up the module so its “revision-ready” before the trials and quick to re-learn.
- Tie off the loose ends now while the questions are fresh in your mind instead of trying to remember which parts were sticking points months down the track when prepping your revision for trials!
What’s included?
- 3-hour workshop run by our Head of Sciences, Adrian
- Small personalised class - so you're not one of 100 students in a big lecture room. We cap the sessions at 15 students maximum :)
- Lesson notes and practice questions to help you master Electromagnetism
Investment: $120 for 3 hours of support
Date: Monday 15th April
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm
