Writing Your Way Into a Story
Writing your way into a story – then getting it published! In this fun, interactive workshop, experienced creative writing teacher Edwina Shaw will help you conquer your inner critic and get writing. Using gentle yoga techniques, you’ll learn how to harness the power of your imagination to bring your stories to life. Whether you’re writing memoir, fiction, screenplays or poetry, this workshop will get your creative juices flowing then show you how to polish your work and submit it to writing competitions or potential publishers.
The session is presented by Gympie Region Literary Awards Judge, Edwina Shaw.

Edwina Shaw is a Brisbane writer of fiction, memoir and screenplays. Since 2002, she has been writing and publishing in Australian and international journals, including Asia Literary Review, Griffith REVIEW and Best Australian Stories 2014. Her novel, Thrill Seekers (Ransom Publishing UK) based on her brother’s battle with adolescent-onset schizophrenia, was shortlisted for the 2012 NSW Premier’s Award for New Writing. Her chapter book, In the Dark of Night (Raven Books UK), was selected for the Summer Reading Club 2016/17. Her screenplay Dear Madman, is currently under development with Screen Queensland. She has been teaching creative writing at the University of QLD and in the community since 2005. She is also an experienced yoga teacher and runs innovative workshops and retreats combining both.
