Author Cass Moriarty was born in Stanthorpe, has lived in the USA, Japan and the Northern Territory, and currently resides in Brisbane. Her 2013 novel, The Promise Seed was shortlisted in the Queensland Literary Awards, Emerging Author category. She has six children and began writing fiction in about 2007 when she decided not to have any more children!
Her day job in public relations and marketing honed her non-fiction writing skills. But it was her volunteer work as a counsellor in child protection that has fuelled her fictional writing. Her work encompasses themes of guilt, redemption, loyalty, loss, family histories and secrets. She is deeply fascinated by how tragedies and critical events shape families and individual childhoods. “I like to read – and to write – stories that ask more questions than they answer.”
