Event Details

Bookmaking in Action...in Reception & Year 3

facilitated by Katie Ashmead

You are invited to be part of the Writing Workshop in Katie Ashmead's class

at St Catherine's Catholic School, Stirling.

Have you participated in the Introduction to Introduction to Bookmaking Mini Course?

Are you looking for some ‘where to next?’ inspiration and the opportunity to learn with and from like-minded colleagues?

Do you feel it will help develop your pedagogy to see, hear and feel a Writing Workshop in action?

Katie Ashmead is one of the core team of Consultants at Lisa Burman Consultants. She has led the Introduction to Bookmaking Mini Course for a number of years as well as continuing her in-class teaching at St Catherine’s. The young writers she guides have developed strong writing habits and ways of thinking & talking about themselves as writers.

This is an opportunity to experience a successful Writing Workshop, led by an educator with eight years of experience with this pedagogical approach. You’ll get to feel the culture of learning in action. Katie will share the ups and downs of her Workshop, what she has learnt and what she has noticed about the young writers she teaches since introducing a Bookmaking Approach to Writing Workshop. You’ll have the opportunity to ask many questions and share your experiences in a small group of ten like-minded educators.

It is a pre-requisite to have participated in either the Introduction to Bookmaking Introduction to Writer's Notebooks or Introduction to Writing Workshop Mini Courses or to have worked directly with Lisa, Katie or Amanda at your site.

This day will be most suited to teachers working with young writers aged 5-8 years.
