Writing the Local: The Art of Crafting Unique Nature Poetry with Rachael Mead

It’s easy to feel inspired by our distinctive Australian landscape but not so easy to translate what we see and feel into poems that tell our reader something unique. In this hands-on workshop we will explore the diverse ways contemporary poets use location and environment in their work, deepen your poetry, moving beyond describing what you see to more sensory intellectual and emotional responses to landscape and explore ways to write about connection to place and belonging while honouring and acknowledging indigenous history and traditional ownership.

In partnership with the J M Coetzee Centre for Creative Practise, University of Adelaide, Adelaide Hills Council is pleased to offer two exciting workshops on poetry writing with published authors Rachael Mead and Heather Taylor Johnson.
