Writing in the Early Years Inquiry Group 2019

Bookmaking with 3-8 Year Olds

Year-long Collaborative Inquiry and Support for the teaching of Writing

Join a small group of like-minded educators from kindergartens (prior-to-school) and primary school settings to deepen your understandings about the pedagogy of Bookmaking and Writing Workshop.

This Study Group is most suited to educators who have previously participated in our Introductory mini-courses and are seeking a community for support and fresh ideas.

It will assume that you have already been using a Bookmaking pedagogy with young writers. We hope the group will include a range of educators who are working with children from 3-8 years of age, as this will enrich our dialogue.

What other participants are saying about their Writing Inquiry Group experience:

"It was a fantastic forum of like-minded educators who were all so passionate about Bookmaking! I highly recommend this Study Group to anone who has entered the wonderful world of Bookmaking!"

Lara, Reception Teacher

"Not only did we have the opportunity to learn new skills and have guest speakers share their writing experiences, but the networking with other educators was exciting."

   Angela, Early Years Educator

The Study Group will comprise 2 modes for learning (face-to-face & online). It is focussed on educators supporting educators, rather than using workshop or presentation formats.

1. One Saturday Session (3 hours) in Adelaide each term. This will be facilitated by Katie Ashmead, who has been faciliating the Introductory Mini Courses and coaching in the Bookmaking Approach for the past five years, and respond to your questions and interests.

Term 1: Saturday 2 March
Term 2: Saturday 11 May
Term 3: Saturday 3 August
Term 4: Saturday 26 October

(dates are subject to change)

2.  Private FaceBook page where you will be invited to share ideas, successes and ask questions of each other. Moderated by the team at Lisa Burman Consultants, who share articles, blog posts and other resources to support your bookmaking with children.

This year-long project will provide at least 25 hours of professional learning time if you access the FB page just once a week/fortnight. A Certificate of Participation, that is aligned to the Australian Teaching Standards, is provided at the final Saturday Session.

Please note: payment is strictly by credit card via Eventbrite only.

Tax invoices are provided immediately should you require reimbursement from your site.
