Writing for Social Change Workshop
Event Information
Description
This workshop uses poetry and poetic techniques to support participants to develop individual voice. Whether you are an experienced writer or a beginner you will be offered a range of exercises that quickly illicit sophisticated writing. The workshop is dynamic and uses a range of approaches. These playful exercises have been developed to work with those low on confidence and motivation and work to install a love of poetry and some understanding of technique so that participants feel safe to play. Everyone will generate new writing and leave with new ideas.
The workshop is run by David Chapple who has a MA in creative writing and one in Contemporary Arts Practice. He has written for stage and screen and is published in literary journals. He has been writer in residence for prisons, psychiatric units, schools, hospices and hospitals. He is currently writer in residence at Flinders Medical Centre specialising in Eating Disorders where he uses poetry to promote individual voice.
