Event description

Description

Delivered by Dr Jenny Martin, Lecturer in the School of Biosciences & coordinator of the Science Communication Program at the University of Melbourne.

More than ever, it is vital that today’s scientists can communicate effectively with non-scientists. Firstly, this is to ensure the public can access accurate and engaging scientific information. Secondly, excellent communication skills are in demand from employers in all sectors. In this workshop, we will consider some of the ways scientists can get their message out to non-scientists: writing for the public, including blogging; as well as both mainstream and social media. In particular, we'll focus on the style of writing that is most effective for communicating about science with non-scientific audiences.
