You are invited to meet Susan Duncan when she introduces her new memoir The House on the Hill.
In her previous memoirs Susan has shared with unflinching honesty and candour her life's experience with everything, from marriage and a fulfilling career to heartbreaking loss and a confronting battle with cancer.
Now she revisits the memories of her past with emotional clarity and wit, as well as exploring the pernicious and sometimes unexpected hurdles of ageing, and learning to accept them. There are reflections on the changing dynamic of her relationship with her husband Bob, the turbulent past with her mother and the awful forces that shaped their difficult relationship, as well as the patience and compassion required to deal with her mother's deteriorating health.
She's also building a dream sustainable home with Bob, and dealing the the occasional feelings of doubt the challenges of the task provoke.
After year of thinking she would never leave Tarangaua, they decide to split their time between Pittwater and the new home on the farm.
The House on the Hill is a book about discovery and forgiveness and what it takes to rework shrinking boundaries into a new and rich life.

Berkelouw Books opened in Mona Vale in 2007. We have a spacious, light-filled store where you can discover a wide range of books and gifts for adults and children. Our staff are experienced booklovers who have the best bookselling technology at their fingertips to ensure they can satisfy your reading needs. We are a community based bookstore. We host bookclubs for readers of literature, crime and for kids who just love to read. We also host Writers Live events where readers can meet authors, talk about books and find out how good (and how hard) it is to be a writer. We also offer occasional workshops in areas that we believe are important to our customers.
