Write for Rights Day 6: Human Rights Defenders
Event Information
About this Event
Come write letters for human rights defenders Germain Rukuki and Idris Khatta and hear from the VIC ALC about what Amnesty International is, followed by a Human Rights Trivia.
Write for Rights Campaign
Sometimes a letter can change someone’s life. That’s the premise of Write for Rights, Amnesty’s annual letter-writing campaign and the world’s biggest human rights event.
Every December, Amnesty supporters across the globe will write millions of letters for those whose basic human rights are being attacked. They are people like you, continuing a long tradition of writing letters to right some of the world’s biggest wrongs. And it’s not just letters – we encourage petitions, emails, Tweets, Facebook posts, photos, postcards.
10 Days of Action
Now more than ever, we need solidarity. So, Amnesty as a national movement is coming together for 10 days of exciting mass mobilisation.
Join us for the 10 Days of Action starting on the 1st of December and finishing on the 10th of December, Human Rights Day. Every night will focus on a different Write for Rights case, with different ways to get involved and make a difference for that case. Think panel discussions, poetry, music and the space for you to connect with other Amnesty supporters and activists from across the country.
Your words have the power to save lives.
