Join us to celebrate World Environment Day at Hobsons Bay.
About this event
World Environment Day is an event celebrated every year on 5 June. It is organised by the United Nations to create awareness about our environment and its protection.
This event at Newport Community Hub highlights Hobsons Bay's unique waterways which provide important habitat for many species of endangered flora and fauna.
Join us for fun and educational activities including:
- Presentation and activity by marine biologist Dr Chris Gillies about his work restoring shellfish reefs in Port Phillip Bay
- Presentation and Q&A with local sustainability leaders from the Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre Dr Marilyn Olliff, Dr Rebecca Patrick and Gordon Lescinsky
- Performance by Newport Community Choir
- Art Exhibition by the Hobsons Bay Arts Society
Light afternoon tea will be provided. This is a waste-minimised event. If you don't want to use provided crockery, please feel free to bring your own cup.
