About this event
The Ambassador of Switzerland, Mrs. Caroline Bichet-Anthamatten is pleased to invite you to join her at a reception and film screening of HIVE (2021) the multiple award winning movie about hope and healing, that serves as a moving tribute to the empowerment, perseverance and determination of women. This movie reminds us that like bees in a hive, we are stronger when we work together.
The screening will be followed by a reception with Swiss wine, finger food and honey-based Swiss desserts!
This event is part of the 2022 World Bee Day.
Based on a true story, Hive beautifully balances the tragedy and hope of life through the experiences of Fahrije Hoti, whose husband went missing during the war in Kosovo. As Fahrije struggles to provide for her family by selling the honey from her hives, she launches a small agricultural business. Her ambition and efforts to empower herself and other women in her community are with met with hostility in the traditional patriarchal village where she lives.
HIVE by Blerta Basholli is coproduced by Alva Film Production dynamic production company established in Geneva in 2005. HIVE is the first movie to win all three major awards at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival: the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award, and the Best Direction award. It is also Kosovo’s entry for this year’s Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
The film will be screened on Sunday, 22 May 2022 at 5.00pm in the Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 53) followed by the reception in the lobby. Doors will open half an hour before the starting time.
