Workshop: Slow stitching - Mornington Library
Date and time
In this hands on workshop, you will learn about Slow Stitching - its history, some basic stitches, and how to select colours.
About this event
Recommended for adults.
You will then create your own piece of Slow Stitching which could be used for decorating clothing, cloth shopping bags, a brooch, or decorating a book cover.
New and vintage/old fabrics are used, which would normally be classified as scraps. Fabric scraps, a needle and some thread is all that’s required. It's an art that is free form, and while it does use embroidery stitches it is much more relaxed and mindful than traditional embroidery.
At the end of the workshop, you'll have the confidence to make future pieces which could become cushion covers, quilts, fabric books, greeting cards or framed art works.
Free but Bookings Essential
Note: If you can't make it on the day, please let us know, so that your tickets can be freed up for others to attend.
