Event description

Description

The management of Occupational Health and Safety has been a key concern amongst disability service providers during the transition to the NDIS. The NDIS is introducing new workforce structures; modifying relationships between participant and provider; and changing planning and pricing structures. The evolving nature of disability service delivery is bringing about new hazards and intensifying existing hazards.

This practical, hands-on workshop wil assist providers to proactively manage employee safety in this new, challenging context.

Providers will work in a collaborative environment to:

  • Recognise how existing hazards may be exacerbated by the NDIS
  • Identify potential new hazards
  • Develop practical risk management strategies for hazards

Individuals are asked to bring a copy of their organisation's risk matrix to the workshop, or may use a generic tool which will be offered to attendees.

Hurry! There are limited places available. Book by Monday 5 June!

  • NDS Members: $55
  • Non NDS Members: $80

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The workshop will be facilitated by Derica Coley, Principal of Coalescence Safety Solutions.

Derica has over 20 years' experience working across a number of industries specialising in OHS and Human Resource Management. She has been working in the not-for-profit sector for the past 13 years, and her qualifications include a Post Graduate Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety with awarded Distinction, and Bachelor of Administration.

Derica was previously Chair of NDS Victoria's OHS Advisory Group and continues to be an active industry representative involved in the review of the WorkSafe Victoria's Health, Community, and Disability Services Industry Guidelines.

Derica recently published an article on safety tips for managing a mobile workforce. The article can be viewed at Three tips to keep your mobile workers safe.
