About Emma Gardner:
Working with an inter-disciplinary approach to her arts practice, Emma Gardner crosses between installation, performance and collaboration, yet the underlying method is always drawing. She uses process driven, laborious techniques - like cyanotype – in her experimentation with a variety of up-cycled textiles.
Her work is motivated from a curiosity about the human condition and the absurdities of life; the expectations, performed duties, constructed narratives and cultural stigmas. Emma uses drawing to question the inherent implications of moral, ethics, gender and class politics that are present when the body is thrown into any subject matter.
Emma undertook a residency in India in 2018 and in South Africa in 2019 and her touring exhibition Wildish featuring folkloric narratives rendered in large scale cyanotypes is on display at the Lismore Regional Art Gallery until 28th February.
