Description

In response to our community sector, the City of Parramatta Council in partnership with TAFE NSW is offering FREE training workshops on Domestic and Family Violence for those working in their communities (paid staff and volunteers) including those in community or neighbourhood centres; migrant services; community based sports, social, support or advocacy groups etc.

The workshop will be offered twice- on Saturday 5 August 2017 and Friday 8 September 2017. This event brite page will register you for the workshop on Friday 8 September 2017.

This is basic/ introductory training and will provide knowledge and guidance on:

- What is domestic and family violence; who it affects and barriers to getting support and help

- Appropriate, supportive responses to (adult) survivors

- Safety Planning for survivors

- Mandatory Reporting and Duty of Care

- Risk and safety

- Services and referral pathways

- Pathways to accessing further accredited domestic and family violence training

This workshop does not require any assessment tasks. Participants will be issued a TAFE NSW Certificate of Participation.

Teacher: Laurrel Knight -Clinical Social Worker and Teacher Granville TAFE

There will be a maximum of 15 people in each workshop; Registrations are essential.

(Please note: due to limited places we are only able to accept 2 people from the same service/ organisation or group at each workshop.)
