Description

The Workshop 'An Introduction to Yoga' is a series of 8 classes that builds a solid foundation in yoga.

If you have been curious about yoga but hesitate to enter a class without any experience, this is the workshop for you.

If you have been practicing yoga but feel like you lack a solid foundation in yoga, this is also for you.

You will experience what yoga is (beyond the asana), explore meditation and leave with a home practice you can keep for a lifetime.


Features

  • 16 hours of theory and practice
  • Home practice video guides to support your practice at the comfort of your own home
  • Interchangeable schedules (between schedule 1 and 2) to help keep you on track on your yoga journey despite your busy schedule. (e.g If you picked schedule 1 and missed the 'Proper Breathing' class on the 17th of January, you may attend the same class on the 20th of January)

Structure


Based on traditional Hatha Yoga from India, the sequence is intelligently designed to balance the chakras starting from the Sahastrara Chakra (crown chakra) to the Swadhisthana Chakra (navel chakra). This has positive effects on one’s emotional and physical balance.

Traditionally, yoga is practiced in a sequence that is repeated until it becomes engrained within that person.
There are a total of 14 postures and each posture will be demonstrated and instructed to the finest detail.
We will familiarise ourselves with these postures so that we can begin to bring our attention inward and learn to come into a meditative state of flow. The workshop infuses meditation and yoga asana to bring stillness to your mind and deepen your yoga practice.


Body


Generally, the workshop centres around the breath, body and mind connection. The classes are structured in a way that builds upon each other. Each day there are specific elements and intentions that explores the fundamentals of yoga which will allow you to practice yoga properly and safely.

The workshop is a series of 8 classes that focuses on alignment, breathing, body awareness, symmetry and relaxation. You will experience an improvement in terms of posture, body symmetry, strength and flexibility. Discover how to improve body awareness, remove tension and promote relaxation.

We will also delve into the proper breathing techniques and use the breath to focus the mind and stay more present in the NOW. A gateway to inner peace.

Besides that, you will learn about the benefits and modifications of each pose that will bring about a new set of challenges for the body, mind and spirit.


Mind



In the meditative yoga class, we will focus on coming into a meditative state of flow. This class will help you reduce thoughts, improve focus and ground you to the present moment one breath at a time.

The workshop will be followed by a mandala making session (a form of flow art) and end with a guided meditation.

Meditation will help cultivate mindfulness, strengthen awareness and reduce stress. It is a beautiful practice for self-discovery and transformation. You will also learn the correct sitting posture for meditation.



Spirit



Everything that you achieve on the yoga mat, reflects in your actions and attitude off the yoga mat too.

You will practice yoga in a new light, leave with a personal home practice and a solid foundation to build upon.

Most importantly, you will discover how to translate what you learn on the mat into your daily lives. Allow yoga to help you overcome real life challenges.

These are invaluable lessons which you can keep for a lifetime.
