Working with Vulnerable Children
Wed. 26 October 2016, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm AEDT
This event is being hosted by VAADA in collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare.
As clinicians we frequently work with clients who have children, many of whom are at increased vulnerability due to their parents' substance use and a range of other factors such as family violence. Sometimes the risk can be relatively obvious, but at other times children can be placed at risk through simply failing to meet developmental milestones. If we have concerns about our clients' parenting skills and the potential outcomes for their children, what can we do to address these given the limitations (such as time) in our roles?
This training will provide clinicians with the tools needed to assess the risk of their client’s children. Participants will be provided strategies to asses risk and reporting.
