Description

CLINICAL SKILLS WORKSHOP FOR VICTORIAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (DHHS) FUNDED Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) WORKERS

Turning Point has been funded by DHHS to deliver a series of workshops designed to up skill the AOD workforce in current best practice in Intake and Assessment, Counselling Skills, Group Skills, Recovery Oriented Practice, Co-occurring Disorders and Current Issues in AOD. These workshops provide an opportunity for current workers in the AOD sector to either learn new skills or consolidate/update existing skills in these areas. Workers will be able to choose whether to attend one or two or more of these workshops depending on their professional development needs and those of the services in which they work.

Places are limited in these free workshops, so all participants are requested to provide their Manager’s contact details during registration. Managers will be contacted if participants fail to attend training without providing notice.

  • Describe the prevalence of co-occurring disorders
  • Complete a mental state and risk assessment and understand implications for treatment
  • Describe various models for service provision for co-occurring disorders
  • Describe a range of referral pathways for people to access appropriate mental health care
  • Describing evidence-based, effective treatment options for co-occurring disorders
