The first module of the Working Recovery training program gives an overview of recovery both as a concept and as a practice. Participants are supported to understand the origins and elements of the recovery approach and the implications for incorporating this understanding into their practice. This is core training for all workers in mental health, given the national focus on recovery-oriented practice. It is a day primarily of knowledge and capacity development that includes an introduction to the central skills needed to powerfully move into a recovery-enabling way of working, one of which is being equipped to use the language of recovery.
At the end of this training participants will be able to:
• Articulate the concept of personal recovery
• Identify some important factors for enabling recovery
• Discuss implications for practice
• Demonstrate application of the starting steps of a recovery-enabling approach
Please note: Module 1 is a pre-requisite for Module 2.
