Event description

Description

Nowanup is a 754ha property with extensive natural and restoration areas in Gondwana Link, between the Stirling Ranges and Fitzgerald National Park, Western Australia.

With its breakaways and mesas, Nowanup is of strong significance to Noongar people. It is a powerful and attractive landscape that over the last few years has seen the development of renewed links with Noongars, including the design and construction of a semi-traditional Noongar meeting place.

Eugene Eades leads an ambitious ‘cultural connections’ programs with the Noongar and Wadjella (white fella) communities. Many thousands of people have been through formal and informal programs run at Nowanup, from ‘youth diversion’ programs, school camps, men and women’s groups and university tours.

During this working bee we are keen to:

1. Enjoy being on Country with Noongar Elder Eugene Eades

2. Improve the safety, lighting and access to power points in the Cottage and Shed

3. Erect a large Safari Tent like they have for ecotourism

4. Rebuild steps to the cottage

5. Line some more of the shed.

We would greatly appreciate your support by attending and/or by making a donation of materials or $ towards purchase of materials.

Materials needed include: Fluorscent lights, Oyster lights, double, and four point power points, external flood lights and cabling.
