About this event
Words at Wagstaffe, a one-day literary event held in partnership between Words on the Waves Writers Festival and The Bouddi Society, will return to Wagstaffe Hall on Saturday 26 March 2022.
Please join us for four unmissable conversations with the following speakers:
DIANNE O’BRIEN, author of heartbreaking memoir Daughter of the River Country and Stolen Generations survivor, will be interviewed by publisher BENNY AGIUS
GARRY LINNELL, experienced journalist and former editor-in-chief of The Bulletin, treats us to the true story of Australia’s Jack the Ripper connection (The Devil's Work) with novelist SUZANNE LEAL
JANE CARO, lauded social commentator and Walkely Award-winning journalist, will discuss her foray into thriller fiction (The Mother) with local ANNA DOWNES, bestselling author of The Shadow House
GRACE KARSKENS, winner of the PM's Literary Award for Australian History and author of People of the River will be interviewed by University of Newcastle scholar EMERITUS PROFESSOR JOHN MAYNARD
The doors will open at 9.00am, and the event will start at 9:45am with Acknowledgement of Country and welcome notes. Your promptness is appreciated.
There will be lunchboxes available to order on the day.
COVID SAFETY
Due to the evolving COVID situation, as a cautionary and responsible approach tickets will be restricted to 1:2sq metre capacity but this may be reviewed closer to the event. UPDATE: Limited batch of additional tickets released, still below full capacity.
Words on the Waves Writers Festival will follow all applicable NSW Health COVID Safe guidelines at the time of release, and will continue to closely monitor these guidelines and act accordingly as we approach the event date.
UPDATE: The Wagstaffe Hall venue policy no longer asks that attendees be double-vaccinated to enter the space.
Social distancing and masks strongly encouraged. QR check-ins mandatory.
Please stay home if you are unwell, if you have tested positive for COVID-19., or if you have been identified as a close contact and self isolating.
