Event description

Description

Our Women's Music Network meetups are back! All female identifying and non-binary people in WA music are invited to join us at Rhubarb Record Vinyl Café Leederville on Tuesday 26 March for the first session of 2019 with Libby Noble (RTRFM).

Libby Noble has been a music broadcaster for over 15 years and a music tragic for far longer. In 2004 Libby spent a few days volunteering at the original Rock and Roll Camp for Girls in Portland, Oregon. Inspired, she came home and co-organised Australia’s first Ladyfest the following year. She has been passionate about amplifying the voices of women in the music industry ever since.

Libby listens to far more new music than is healthy and is a weekly presenter of Out to Lunch, RTRFMs new release music program. She has community radio blood coursing through her veins, has seen a lot of stuff, and has some pretty ripping rock and roll yarns.

--- KEY INFO ---

DATE: Tuesday 26 March
TIME: 6pm - 8pm
WHERE: Rhubarb Records Vinyl Café Leederville
COST: FREE - RSVP via Eventbrite is essential!

--- PLEASE NOTE ---

We appreciate our male allies but the purpose of our WMN meetups is to create a space for women, trans, and gender non-binary people in the music community. While these events are not for people who identify as male, we are working on making recordings of the sessions available. However, due to the sensitive nature of some of the material discussed, not all sessions will be released.

~~~ MORE INFO ABOUT WMN ~~~
Established in early 2018, the Women’s Music Network (WMN) aims to provide a platform to empower women, trans and gender non-binary people in music through the development of supportive networks to uncover opportunities, share knowledge and encourage collaboration within music and the arts.
Meetings will take place every two months, with a new keynote speaker stepping up each time and sharing their story, insight, and advice with the group. Special editions of Women’s Music Network will also be held throughout the year to take advantage of any interstate or international speakers available.
In addition to regular WMN meetings, women, trans, and gender non-binary people in WA music are invited to join the Women's Music Network (WMN) Facebook group and subscribe to the mailing list to stay up-to-date on related news.
WAM fights fiercely for a fully inclusive local music industry where artists, industry professionals and consumers of all gender identities are provided with equal opportunities to explore music without fear of discrimination.
