Women in the Changing World of Work

Each year Opportunity hosts its annual event series in May. This year's event in Sydney will follow the United Nations International Women's Day theme ‘Women in the Changing World of Work’. The event will include a panel discussion taking on this important topic for both women in Sydney as well as Opportunity’s efforts in empowering women globally in the changing world of work.

TIME: 6.30pm - 8pm for drinks and canapes.

OUR DYNAMIC SPEAKERS
Joanna is the Managing Director of Business Lending at the Commonwealth Bank, overseeing process and technology innovation across business lending products. Previously, Joanna held roles within NAB and was the founder and CEO of The Australian Charities Fund, a not-for-profit organisation that revolutionised workplace giving in Australia and opened up a new channel for Australians to support their chosen charities. Passionate about the role that microfinance can play in helping women lift their families out of poverty, she is also the Deputy Chair of Opportunity.
Claire is Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Brookfield, a leading global alternative asset manager, and is a regular speaker on issues affecting in-house lawyers, leadership skills and diversity and inclusion. Amongst other accolades, Claire has received the ‘Excellence Award for Women in Law’ and has been named ‘General Counsel of the Year’. Claire is also an Ambassador for Opportunity.
Karen joined Opportunity in 2007 and became Chief Financial Officer in 2012. She has enhanced the organisation’s back office functions in human resources, finance, information technology, risk and compliance, and has been a key driver of Opportunity’s performance management system, recognised as one of the best in Australia’s not-for-profit sector. A Chartered Accountant, she also holds a Masters in International Social Development and an Executive Masters of Business Administration.
Specialising in litigation and dispute resolution, Diana is a senior partner in the Sydney office of leading international law firm, Clifford Chance. She has been a member of the NSW Law Society’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee since 2016 and has been recognised as a leading practitioner in Dispute Resolution in Chambers Global, Chambers Asia, the Asia Pacific Legal 500 and the Doyles Guide to Best Australian Law Firms. Diana leads Clifford Chance’s Sydney Charity Committee and is instrumental in its support of Opportunity, helping build a vital health program for women in Indonesia.
