Event description
An Intimate songwriters evening with Lyn Bowtell, Melody Moko & Natalie Henry. Three of Australia's top female singer/songwriters.

About this Event

Coming together in a show of solidarity for women in the music industry, Woman Enough is a project undertaken by Melody Moko, and Natalie Henry, to provide women with a safe, and collaborative platform in music. With special guest Lyn Bowtell, the QLD leg of the tour kicks off in Bundaberg, followed by shows in Torbanlea, Maleny and Brisbane.

LYN BOWTELL first came to prominence as songwriter and singer for multi award winning Country Pop trio BELLA, since then she has released two critically acclaimed albums, ’SECRET SONGS‘ (WJO) in 2012, and ‘HEART OF SORROW‘ (Maven/Sony) in 2014.An innovative and creative songwriter Lyn defies musical constraint and easy classification, with influences reaching from pure Country to Blues, Jazz and Pop, Lyn has her own distinctive voice and musical identity. Now the SEVEN TIME GOLDEN GUITAR WINNER is heading in a new musical direction, with a broader, larger audience ready to follow.

MELODY MOKO is cut from the same cloth as artists like Brandi Carlile, Catherine Britt and Brooke Fraser, Melody writes and performs without pretence and her debut album set out to prove that Alternative Country music isn’t always dark and twisted tales of heartbreak and revenge. Letting your toes break free of your tightly laced boots to tap is okay too. With her feet firmly placed in the sweet spot, Melody’s music is relatable and personal, in a set she can make you laugh and cry. Her infectious and engaging performance is unlike any other. An opening act for Australia's best country artists, she has toured the US and Australia with Fanny Lumsden, The McClymonts, Tim Rogers and Catherine Britt. Melody recently succesfully crowdfunded $17,000 to make her second record, with grammy nominated producer, Neilson Hubbard in Nashville.

Natalie Henry’s life has played out like one long country song. The product of a broken home, with numerous step-brothers, sisters and mothers, the singer was raised by her truck driver father, a KB drinkin’, camel-smokin’ man with the charm of Burt Reynolds. He would sing along to classics by Willie Nelson and The Highwaymen as Natalie lay in the sleeper cab of his prime mover, rolling interstate. Henry’s singing career didn’t begin until the age of 34, when she realised her love for writing was more than just words on a page, it was her way of feeding her emotion an escape from the daily routine. In just three years Natalie has been up, down and across Australia singing and sharing her stories of love, loss and heartache to festivals and shows all over. Her debut Single ‘If We Said Goodbye’ was produced by Bill Chambers.
