Wollongong Indian Myna Action Program Workshops
Event Information
About this Event
The Myna Bird Action Program is a Council-sponsored community program developed in response to growing community concern about the number and distribution of Indian Myna Birds in our region, and their impact on native wildlife, human health and our environment.
The program has three broad aims:
- To reduce the breeding, feeding and roosting opportunities for Indian Myna Birds.
- To conduct a humane trapping program that is acceptable to the community, animal welfare agencies and government.
- To survey and record Indian Myna bird numbers and impacts to assist with program development and future research.
After completing a free workshop, participants will be able to purchase a trap for $50 (cash only) from Corrimal Community Mens Shed who will be at the workshop. If you don't want to purchase a trap on the day, we'll give you a referral so you can buy one directly from the Mens Shed at a later date.
If you would like to be part of our humane trapping program and buy a trap on the day of the workshop, don't forget to bring $50 cash.
Note: If you are feeling unwell, we ask that you do not attend the workshop. Please advise us before the workshop and we can reschedule your training for a future date.
