Description

Mini Mentors / Mentees

Are you a Uni Student, parent returning to work, new to the industry (or Perth Tech Scene), upskilling, reskilling or are you without many connections in the industry?

We are excited to offer our "Mini Mentor" program as part of our next event.

We have some amazing women and men from the WA Community who have volunteered to be your "Mini Mentor" on the night. These Mini Mentors work in various roles in Perth Tech+ including Technical, Management, Project Management, Account Management etc and across many industry streams.

I want to be "Mini Mentored" what does this mean/what do I need to do?

1. Order your event ticket from eventbrite here! Please note you must have an event ticket to gain entry to the event from a security and safety perspective.

2. Once you have your event ticket, please then register as a Mini Mentee by ordering your complimentary ticket below to secure your place as a Mini Mentee and answer the provided question. Additional information will be sent to you upon registration, however please email alana@witwa.org.au should you have any questions outside of these.

On the night of the event you would need to arrive at 5.15pm. This will provide you with 15mins 1on1 time with your "Mini Mentor" where you can ask them about their job, the industry etc.

After that, as the event starts (prior to the panel commencing), your Mini Mentor will spend another 15-30mins with you introducing you to their connections and conversations to provide you with insight to hopefully help you build your confidence, knowledge and network.

I am keen to be a "Mini Mentor" what do I need to do?

WiTWA is a Perth-based, not for profit organisation providing a framework for women in tech [+] to extend their networks and expand their knowledge on a broad range of professional topics. We encourage open conversation and inspire deliberation and debate.

WiTWA wants to see more women in tech [+] roles and organisations in WA, and to progress those already in these careers as we achieve greater parity and equality.

This is how we help make it happen:

  • Encouraging young people to study STEM subjects through our Techtrails program, showing Year 9 and 10 students the diverse and varied jobs for all genders in tech [+] careers.

  • We want to retain the women already in tech [+] careers. We do this by helping them connect with fellow supporters and providing networking and development opportunities through our suite of events: TechXChanges, Boardroom Series and our newly minted one-day conference, WiTWA [+].

Our supporters span across gender, industry and age and are committed to introducing women and young people to exciting and meaningful careers in tech, science and innovation.

We want to champion tech [+] as viable, future focused and stimulating professions for young people to consider; and we want to support them in that pursuit – all while raising the status of women in Australian business and in all tech [+] industries.
