Event description
Are you an International Student? Join local artist Aly de Groot for a free weaving workshop using recycled materials

About this event

Did you know that the collective word for jellyfish is a‘smack’? Jellyfish are plaguing oceans worldwide. Creatively come together with other curious crafters to tackle this ecological imbalance using basket making processes along with fishing-line and other recycled materials to weave a jellyfish .

This is the fifth of a series of workshops with Darwin based Fibre Artist, Aly de Groot for International students. All participants will learn to weave a jellyfish using recycled materials . This workshop will be at De La Plagie in the Casuarina Coastal Reserve.

These workshops invite connections, curiosity and happiness. Slow crafts such as weaving , give us a well needed break from the digital world, allowing us to relax, create and converse.

This Project is supported by the Northern Territory Government through the StudyNT International Student Wellbeing Grant.
