WISA - Essential Basic Training (School wellbeing)
WISA 2015 research in Australia found that:
The majority of staff have been in the wellbeing role for 2 years or less and have had no formal training to undertake this role
45% of wellbeing staff are finding the demands in the role not manageable
Staff are not always fully aware of their legal obligations regarding mandatory reporting, duty of care, confidentiality, privacy, bullying and how to best support marginalised students
Over 90% of staff in Wellbeing roles are not aware of the most effective interventions to use to address bullying in schools

WISA strongly recommends these targeted trainings as essential for anyone with responsibility for addressing Wellbeing in schools. This includes Principals/Deputy Principals, Wellbeing Coordinators /Counsellors, House
Leaders, Year Level Coordinators & Special Education Coordinators. The day is tailored to specifically meet participants’ needs.
Essential Basic training provides a foundation and is recommended for everyone.
