Description
Wire Knot: Creatively Repurposing Materials
With Al Phemister
Friday > 10am – 12pm
22 February – 29 March
Art isn’t a competition! This workshop seeks to introduce everyone to tools and materials, and to guide them step by step in creating an object. The final stages will involve the individual’s own artistic preferences, and encourage them to impose their own interpretations. The workshop will experiment with different ideas and forms in an attempt to help each individual achieve their own goals. Skills learnt will allow students to adapt and achieve a sense of artistic merit. This workshop will just be the starting point of what can become a lifetime of creative discovery.
About Al Phemister >
Al Phemister comes from a building and manufacturing background and has worked as a sculptor for more than 20 years. He has an innate ability to help others realise their own artistic abilities. Al’s practical manner helps to set others at ease and explore their creative nature. Al has worked with groups of school-aged children, as well as adults, and he has a passion for recycling and the reuse of materials whenever possible.
Content >
Workshops will begin with an introduction to materials and tools found in most homes. Techniques and skills will be taught to develop confidence working with the materials, and students will be guided through making a simple object that can then be embellished and decorated, giving the individual a chance to develop their own flair and artistic expression. This process will then allow for individuals to progress to their own pieces at their own speed. There will be an emphasis on reuse and recycling.
Cost >
$220
All materials will be provided.
