Win-Win Negotiation Skills Workshop

RDA Gold Coast, RDA Logan & Redlands and RDA Ipswich & West Moreton will partner with FIAL to host a series of workshops designed to boost the competitiveness and innovation of businesses in the food and agribusiness sector. The first workshop, Win-Win Negotiations, will be free of charge and will be held on Tuesday 16th October at HOTA – “Home of the Arts.”

FIAL are delivering this exciting one day workshop, tailored specifically to the food and agribusiness sector.

Food and beverage businesses are invited to attend, to learn skills and processes to help you negotiate more effectively giving you the confidence to negotiate best possible deals.

Workshop will provide insights not only on the general principles, but also an understanding of the differences between domestic and international buyers and how you could modify your approaches accordingly. While we think of negotiating as being the most important skill when launching a product to market, often we overlook the truly most important component – the sell.

This program is suitable for a broad audience. Workshop tools, techniques and learning will help your business with planning the pitch but will equally have application if trying to gain internal company support or maybe even convince the bank manager to extend some funds.

The Program will include:

  • Booking the meeting, how do you even get one and with whom – what is the hook?
  • Developing a compelling selling presentation that engages the retailer
  • Understanding basic buyer metrics and KPI’s (trade maths)
  • What is your commercial proposition – why will it be interesting to the buyer?
  • Overcoming objections – not being forced into concessions early in the engagement
  • Foundation negotiation, so once you have a nibble, you aren’t caught off guard!
  • Summary of the ‘rules of the game’ when negotiating with retailers

Post Program Support:

We do not believe in ‘train and run’. After the program delegates need to apply the skills as quickly as possible to ensure they have mastered them. We provide a follow up support service for every delegate. We will provide trainers direct email and phone number – they are encouraged to seek guidance in the weeks following. Typically, we find the following areas are most typically requested:

  • How to respond to a retailer’s requests (often unreasonable requests…)
  • Review of important presentations
  • Process queries – ‘how do I best do it?’
  • Grocery Code or Competition Law queries

Workshop facilitated by NextGen Group who have developed and delivered dozens of negotiation programs - for both local and global blue-chip manufacturers, FMCG retailers and independent supermarkets. Coles, Metcash, Unilever, Fonterra, Schweppes, Kellogg’s to name a few.
