Come join us at the next at the Victorian WIN-ANZICS networking evening.

We will be joined by special guests Dr Su Winter and Dr Neil Orford.

Dr Su Winter

Colonel Susan Winter is an Intensivist and Anesthetist. She works at the Alfred in Melbourne, as part of her employment in the Australian Army. COL Winter, has worked extensively around Australia in both specialties and in a number of Army postions . She has extensive operational experience, having served in Rwanda, East Timor, Bougainville, Afghanistan and Iraq

Dr Neil Orford

Neil is the Director of Intensive Care at University Hospital Geelong, Associate Professor in Intensive Care Medicine Deakin University, and Clinical Lead for the iValidate Program. Neil’s interest include clinical leadership, having undertaken the Harvard International Leadership Development Program for Physicians, Harvard Negotiation Masterclass, training with the Cognitive Institute, Monash University, and the Burlington Group. He is clinical lead for the i-validate program, which aims to improve patient-centred end-of-life care through multidisciplinary training in clinical communication, and clinical support in shared decision-making. He is actively involved in research, recently completing a PhD with ANZIC-RC, Monash University, into critical illness related changes to bone metabolism, ongoing research into end-of-life care, and active involvement in multi-center clinical trials. He has recently contributed to public conversation about health issues with publications in JAMA “Grief after Suicide” in The Age newspaper (“Give death it’s due in a system focused on life”, “mothers: respect the strong selfless women in your life”), the ABC Drum, and participating in a Lateline program about end of life conversations. Finally, he has strong philanthropic interests including as an Intensive Care Specialist for Open Heart International Fiji, and free access to developing countries for Crit-IQ, an education website he cofounded.
