Description

Wild Things: Spiders in backyards and why we need them!

When: Thursday 12th July, 6:30 - 7:45pm

Where: Eastgardens Library, 152 Bunnerong Road, Eastgardens NSW 2036

Presented by Dr Lizzy Lowe, Behavioural Ecology Group at Macquarie University.

Find yourself thinking that the spider living in your garden is the biggest you’ve ever seen? You could be right! Research shows some spiders are getting larger and even doing better in cities than in their natural habitats.

In her talk Dr Lizzy Lowe will discuss what kinds of spiders are found in our backyards, why they are important for a heathy ecosystem, how our urban spiders are evolving and how we can work towards creating healthy, functioning ecosystems in our suburbs for a variety of species including ourselves!

This Project has been assisted by the New South Wales Government through its Environmental Trust.
