Description

Wild Things: Frogdale with Dr Arthur 'frog man' White

When: Wednesday 27 June 2018, 6:30 - 7:45pm
Where: Rockdale Library, level 3
Cost: Free

Did you know that Rockdale used to be referred to as Frog Hollow back in the 1800's because of the huge number and variety of frogs that lived in this swampy area of colonial Sydney?

Unfortunately, frogs are fairly rare in Rockdale these days and the once abundant and beautiful Green and Golden Bell Frog that used to live here and across the Sydney Basin in their millions, is now a threatened species.

In this talk, Dr Arthur White a local ecologist and historian, will outline the fascinating early history of the Botany Bay area, what frogs used to live here, what happened to them, what frogs you might find here today and how to support local frogs by creating habitat in your own backyard.

This Project has been assisted by the New South Wales Government through its Environmental Trust.
