The Urban Farming Collective, Kings of Comedy and Australian Wild Herbs & Mushrooms present to you our second exciting collaboration. (The first one was a complete success)

Simon Hughes, mushroom farmer, event co-ordinator and regular host at Kings of Comedy has teamed up with his friends Tim & Richard to take you out into the wild, where you'll learn about the amazing micro world of mushrooms.

We'll be transporting you to the location via mini bus. Given the characteristics of mushrooms and the correct climate required we may have to travel further than anticipated. Meaning we may arrive back later than expected.

A little about your hosts:

Your guides will be Richard Ford and Timothy De Vos, from Australian Wild Herbs & Mushrooms.

Richard and Tim have a combined 40 years of foraging experience, a wealth of knowledge and a desire to see humanity reconnect with ancestral roots.

Together they have supplied some of Australia's finest establishments with assorted wild mushrooms, herbs and fruit throughout the seasons.

You will be introduced to the amazing world of fungi, starting with the fundamentals.

What is a mushroom? What are fungi, are they different to mushrooms?

How do you identify a mushroom, how do you know if its a poisonous or an edible mushroom?

Where do you find them, and when?

Fungi have had profound impacts on the development of civilisations around the world.

Learn about the sustainability of wild mushrooming, ecological roles of fungi and how to reduce your impact on the environment while you forage.

A trip through the forest will excite your senses with primal stimuli; a bonanza of smells, sounds, tastes and sights all of which hold the key to identifying and tracking down delicious mushrooms.

During the hunt, you will be able to ask and discuss any questions you might have thought of as the guides move around the group spending time with everyone.

Your freshly foraged mushrooms will be checked by Richard and Tim for unsafe species, before being packed into a box that's provided for you to take home and enjoy.
