Event description

Description

ANAMUNDI STUDIO is excited to present Vol 1. of our WILD CRAFT Workshop series: Natural Dyeing with Plants, Flowers & Food Waste + PLANT FEAST.

Dive into magic, ritual and creative expression with mother nature, experiment with beautiful colours and create prints using botanicals and food waste. A beautiful immersion of craft, community and natural connection to welcome Spring! The immersion will be followed by a magic organic, plant-based feast from the soul food kitchen of Cade McConnell.

Using the magical technique of bundle dyeing, we will use sustainably sourced materials to create a unique and one of a kind silk scarf, filled with positive intention and ephemeral beauty. Whilst our bundles steam and evolve, we will play with the beauty of alchemy by introducing natural pH modifiers, creating a rainbow of possibilities with our very own botanical dye paintings.

You will learn about…

- Suitable plants, flowers and foods and the colours they yield
- Natural fibres and fabric preparation with mordants
- Colour extraction and natural pH modifiers
- The art of bundle dyeing through wrapping and steaming

This workshop is the perfect introduction to natural dyeing, producing eco-friendly textiles and adding colour to your wardrobe in a mindful and sustainable way. The bundle dyeing technique is a great way to revitalise existing garments and create unique and beautiful printed fabric. Guests will create their very own silk scarf as well as a freestyle botanical dye painting to take home. Abi will also demonstrate the many ways in which the scarf may be reimagined as a wall hanging, head wrap or furoshiki bag.

Abi is a stylist, designer and maker that works across fashion, textiles and craft.

After spending the last 7 years in London she has recently returned to Brisbane and is exploring the therapeutic benefits of creating with foraged plant materials, flowers and found objects. Abi is passionate about providing memorable experiences through creating beautiful and engaging environments to learn and play. Follow her journey @abi_fincham

The experience will also include a Plant-based feast from the magic kitchen of Cade McConnell @om_cade.

Cade is a plant-based cook with a philosophy of ‘consciousness over convenience’, a concept of going back to the roots, where food is ritual, preparation takes time and is created with love. Using only organic ingredients and seasonal produce, all dishes are made from scratch and inspired by his travels to the Eastern world. His daily practices of mindfulness, Yoga and meditation infiltrate his food. He is passionate about serving others and cultivating community through creatively nourishing and ethical foods.
