IDENTIFYING FAMILY VIOLENCE TRAINING |DEDICATED SESSION

The Western Integrated Family Violence Committee (WIFVC) is pleased to be delivering IFV training to your organisation.

The IFV Training is designed for:

* Workers who are not directly involved in family violence service delivery, but who may encounter women and children who are experiencing, or at risk of, family violence. For example: workers in community, health, child and family services, mental health, disability, alcohol and other drugs, homelessness or legal services, local councils, schools or hospitals.

* Family Violence workers who are new to the sector.

What does the training cover?

This 2.5-hour course is the ideal introduction to the core elements of family violence practice. Utilising a best practice framework, participants will increase their understanding of family violence, learn how to identify family violence, gain strategies to respond to disclosures, and learn about safety measures and appropriate referrals. All sessions will be delivered by a specialist family violence trainer.

How does this training fit with the upcoming MARAM training?

The Identifying Family Violence Training provides a valuable understanding of the core elements of family violence practice. For those organisations prescribed under the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework, this training provides an important foundation for future MARAM training. It is anticipated that Family Safety Victoria will commence the roll-out of MARAM training from March 2019.

What does the training cost?

The Western Integrated Family Violence Committee (WIFCV) has received funding from the Department of Health and Human Services for the 2018/19 financial year to deliver Identifying Family Violence training for the western metropolitan region.
