WIFTWA 2021 Launch
Event Information
About this Event
Women in Film & TV WA invites you to our 2021 launch coinciding with a screening of the highly acclaimed documentary Girls Can't Surf to celebrate International Women's Day.
Described by renowned surfing magazine Tracks as "one of the best documentaries ever made about surfing", Girls Can't Surf shares the untold story of a ragtag bunch of inspired, renegade Australian, American, and South African women surfers who battled against inequality, homophobia, and chauvinism of their fellow sportsmen, sponsors, and institutions. As the sea ebbed and flowed, so did their struggle, fortunes, and notoriety of these pioneering surfers, but nothing kept these radical women from catching their own waves.
Network with industry members, colleagues, and friends at Event Cinemas Innaloo with a drink at 5:45pm followed by a 6:30pm presentation where you'll be the first to hear what's in store for WIFTWA in 2021. The film will be screened shortly after.
Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite. COVID restrictions mean capacity is extremely limited so be quick to get your spot now.
