Event description

Description

Get along to a free workshop delivered by the Very Edible Gardens (VEG) team for the City of Kingston Ourplace program.

This hands-on practical session will cover the science and logistics of building a wicking bed, including:

- How wicking beds work and what they offer, including water and labour savings & easy to succeed veggie gardening

- When wicking beds are great option, and when they might not be
- Q and A session for participant raised questions

With a how-to component involving converting an existing bed, we'll explore the common pitfalls with building a wicking bed and how to avoid them, and have some fun along the way! Physical participation is voluntary and further online reading and resources are provided.

Wicking garden beds use much less water and, even better, require less maintenance than conventional garden beds to produce an abundance of vegies and other plants. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build one as we construct one for a local school. Numbers limited.
