2nd Workshop - Heads!
The second workshop is held during the fourth weekend in May over Saturday 22st and Sunday 22nd. This workshop will teach how to make a basic fursuit head. We say basic because they will not include electronics and we are not using airbrush techniques to style the fur.
Fursuit heads have many ways they can be made. They can have cardboard bases, upholstery foam bases, EVA foam bases and plastic bases, to name a few! Attendees are required to bring their own head base if they want to have the build finished over the weekend. Alternatively, people can build one at the workshop, but we can not guarantee the head will be finished by the end of the weekend. Building one at the workshop will still teach you valuable skills and you will achieve satisfaction knowing you have done something most people still think is beyond their reach - you started! The Whyalla Cosplay group hopes to be able to provide some head bases for sale at the workshops for anyone who does not mind learning the craft with a pre-made base. This gives people the chance to gain skills in creating a fursuit before tackling their main fursona costume.
To expedite the build process, the Whyalla Cosplay group will have pre-made fursuit items available at the workshops. For head building, this includes pre-made teeth, eyes, noses, horns and potentially head bases. The group would love to make some bases for people to use on the day but their availability will depend upon the time our workshop guides have to create them prior to the event. Head bases will only come in one or two different species as making head bases for all the attending species would be an expensive and arduous task.
