NCSS Edition 2 has been broadened to include safeguarding practices for adults, with a focus on adults at risk.

About this event

The National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS) Edition 2 has been broadened to include safeguarding practices for adults, with a focus on adults at risk. This session aims to assist ministries to explore how this may apply to them and consider practices to keep adults safe. Ministries will be encouraged to identify adults at risk who may be engaged in their activities and what safeguarding measures can be applied.

Using case studies and activities to keep the session interactive, the session will explore:

  • Identifying factors that increase vulnerability for adults
  • The application of dignity of risk
  • Factors that increase risk in perpetrators of harm
  • Identifying types of abuse and reporting abuse

This session is suited to Clergy and Religious and for Church personnel responsible for implementing the NCSS.
