Description

The Green Cities Project– Which plant, where, when database for growing urban green space is a national five-year project that will facilitate sustainable green cities by unlocking opportunities to develop resilient urban green spaces.

This project brings together a consortium of researchers with industry partners to investigate the suitability of various plant species under current and future climate scenarios and in various urban areas, from street plantings to housing developments and open spaces.

To ensure that our research and outputs are relevant to end-users, we will be holding a number of interactive workshops across Australia, bringing together various stakeholders, including nursery and turf growers, practitioners, developers, landscape planners and designers, state and local government representatives.

The aim of the workshop is to

  • disseminate information about the Which plant, where, when database for growing urban green space project

  • connect with growers, industry, practitioners, researchers and government agencies working in this area

  • identify collaborators and possible demonstrations sites for the project

  • develop an appropriate species list for testing and research for the project

  • understand possible barriers for the project and identify further opportunities

  • identify end user needs for the interactive online tool and the technical design guidelines
