Event description

Description

Join us on a wheelie awesome wheelchair snorkel

This is South Australia’s inaugural wheelchair snorkel event. The event is made possible via support from Department of Human Services, DEW Marine Parks, EMS Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries Inc. and City of Onkaparinga.

This pilot program is open to those with mobility issues such as cerebal palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, amputee and wheelchair users. The program will be a test case for future inclusive snorkel events.

We have 5 places on this pilot program - who can register?

The program is open to those who are confident in water, physically fit and can swim.

You will be required to fill in a liability release and disclaimer form. You will make yourself available for pre-snorkel consultation and wetsuit fitting in first week of March (Date TBC). A modified wetsuit with extra long zips for easy donning will be provided.

Fully inclusive. Bring your family!

This is a fully inclusive event. Please feel free to bring along your family (Max. 3 – e.g. an adult carer or your partner and two kids). Extra participants can fill out registration form and pay a $10 fee on day (or via link provided).

For further information please contact Yvette Eglinton on 0412 066 045

Being a launch of EMS inclusive snorkel program "Wheelie Awesome Snorkel Tours" we may have media and representatives of funding bodies on site for media coverage (TV, radio, social media and print). Therefore you will need to consent to photos and video for media on day and future marketing of program by City of Onkaparinga, DEW Marine Parks, Department of Human Services and EMS Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries Inc.

Please arrive 1 hour before your snorkel for briefing, wetsuit and snorkel gear fitting.

There will be extra parking close by and a toilet on site.

We have seen some amazing marine life on the reef during our March snorkels including longsnout boarfish, dolphins, baby seadragons, large gurnard, port jackson sharks, spotted wobbegongs and large schools of reef fish.
